Defence Export Office

With the release earlier in the year of the Defence Export Strategy, and the subsequent creation of the Defence Export Office and the appointment of a Defence Export Advocate, there is now new infrastructure in place to manage the policy issues surrounding how the Nations’ defence industry is supported by Government to succeed in selling into the ADF and across the globe.

The remit of the office is quite wide, to include Industry Skilling and STEM; Defence Industry Capability; Trade Missions; and the direction of the Export Strategy and all of its’ associated activities.

Whilst this is a significant commitment by the Commonwealth in assisting the growth of defence industry, there is a lot of work to be done in ensuring that the policies created align with the commercial realities SMEs face. To ensure that our Members’ interests and concerns are adequately addressed, we have established strong relationships with the DEO and will continue to work to shape positive policies supporting SME growth.
