The Defence Industrial Capability Plan introduced ten initial Sovereign Industrial Capability Priorities (the Priorities), and noted Defence would develop Implementation Plans for each Priority. These Implementation Plans outline critical industrial capabilities for each Priority, describe the existing Australian defence industry sector and outline the actions to be taken by Government to support the development of each Priority.

Alongside these Implementation Plans, Defence is releasing Industry Plans to unpack the industrial capabilities that need to be delivered or supported by Australian industry, and encourage greater investment in those capabilities. The first of these Implementation and Industry Plans were released on 17 December 2019.

The Australian Space Situational Awareness and Space Traffic Management Conference 2020, will bring together key researchers, users, and decision makers from across the Australian space sector, to focus on developing a set of shared priorities and goals among the Australian SSA community. The conference will enable Australia to meet the evolving challenge of safely and responsibly operating within the space domain.

The aim of DISC is to help participants develop a better understanding of both Defence and industry in order to improve Australia’s defence industry capabilities. The course gives participants the opportunity to share ideas, problem-solve, build important business contacts and visit a number of Defence and defence industry sites.
 
The 2020 course comprises of four, one-week modules spread over a 7-month period. 

Participants must attend all modules and will be required during and outside of course dates to undertake syndicate work.
 
The cost is $9000 (GST exlcusive) which is tax-deductible. The fee covers course delivery, accommodation, meals and flights from the participant’s local airport.

The Victorian Government is offering up to five eligible students with an opportunity to reimburse them up to $4500 (GST exclusive) per student.

To gain entry into Defence supply chains for large Defence projects, SMEs must demonstrate that they have a track record of delivery. For this reason, it is essential that SMEs take every opportunity to build up a portfolio of public works.
